Said to be the stylish father of the Martini – this old-school hero first appeared in O.H. Byron’s 1884 Modern Bartenders’ Guide. It’s a sweet gin-vermouth cocktail any classic drink lover should know by heart.
1 dash of orange bitters
15ml of sweet vermouth
45ml of conker gin
5 ml maraschino cherry liqueur
Add all ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice.
Shake and strain into a chilled coupette glass.
Garnish with orange twist (optional).
Spritzing the orange peel over the glass releases the essential oils of the orange and give the drink extra flavour and aroma.
