The fashionable, sour prince of cocktails born during the glory days of aviation. The original recipe calls for the inclusion of crème de violette, a sweet liquor that gives the drink the lavender-hue that alludes to the dashing days of biplanes and handsome leather-clad pilots.
15 ml lemon
15ml maraschino cherry liquor
50 ml conker gin
2.5 ml of crème de violette (optional)
Pour everything into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well, then strain into a coupette glass.
Garnish with maraschino cherry garnish.
